The South African Police Services (SAPS) confirmed that Fannie Nkosi, who is attached to the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit has resigned with immediate effect.
Nkosi is currently in custody, facing charges of being in possession of unlicensed ammunition, theft, defeating the ends of justice, and failure to properly secure firearms and ammunition in terms of the Firearms Control Act.
He was suspended due to allegations before Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that he acted as an intermediary between former SAPS Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya and figures linked to crime cartels.
SAPS national spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed told Fullview that the Nkosi’s letter of resignation was received.
“We have received the letter of his resignation,” Mathe said.
This is a developing story.
