South African Revenue Service (SARS) in Johannesburg will reopen the Rissik Street branch after it caught fire on 20 September.
The fire, which ripped through the basement of the Marshalltown building in September, caused extensive damage.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
“The office was cleared for reopening by both the Departments of Public Works and of Labour after a thorough inspection to ensure that it was safe to be used for its primary purpose,” SARS said in a statement on Tuesday.
“SARS wishes to apologise for any inconvenience that was experienced by taxpayers and traders because of closure of the office.”
In August, a fire killed more than 70 people in an abandoned building in the same area. Dozens more were left injured.

The first part of the investigation will probe the circumstances that led to the deadly fire and the prevalence of leasing hijacked buildings in the Joburg inner city.
The second part will focus on the recommendations, based on the commission’s findings, and who must be held liable for the fire and the deaths that emanated from it.
Lesufi appointed retired Constitutional Court Justice Sisi Khampepe as the chairperson of the commission of inquiry, Advocate Thulani Makhubela and former Ekurhuleni councillor Vuyelwa Mathilda Mabena will work alongside Khampepe.
