Championship leaders Burnley have agreed to a €7 million deal for Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, an agreement is in place for Foster between Westerlo and the Clarets. A transfer fee of €7m has been agreed, which will rise to €10m if the Clarets achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
Foster joined Westerlo from Vitória Guimarães SC on a permanent deal in the summer of 2022, having been on loan with the Belgian side for the previous season.
This is Foster’s second spell in Belgian football, having been loaned to Cercle Brugge by their parent club Monaco for the 2019/2020 season.
He should also be able to get a work permit in England despite Bafana sitting outside of the top 50 FIFA ranked nations because he’s been a regular for Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League.
Clarets coach Vincent Kompany was understood to be very keen to add Foster to his squad before the January window closes.
Kompany was in the stands to watch the Westerlo frontman in action last Monday. The South Africa international has eight goals to his name this term.
They currently sit in first place with 62 points, 18 points ahead of Watford in the first non-automatic promotion spot.
Burnley have already signed a large amount of players from the Belgian Pro League this season. Recently the Championship leaders picked up Sint-Truiden defender Ameen Al-Dakhil, having been unable to sign him in the summer.
