South African Sports Confederation & Olympic Committee (SASCOC) announced team to represent South Africa at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games, officially known as Glasgow 2026, will take place from 23 July to 2 August.
The official line-up includes:
- Athletics and Para Athletics
- Swimming and Para Swimming
- Track Cycling and Para Cycling
- Artistic Gymnastics
- 3×3 Basketball and Wheelchair Basketball
- Boxing
- Judo
- Bowls and Para Bowls
- Netball
- Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting
Athletics
The star-studded squad features top-tier talent like Akani Simbine and Gift Leotlela.
Swimming
Twenty-five athletes have been selected in Swimming and Para Swimming: The squad includes established performers such as Chad le Clos, Pieter Coetzé, Lara van Niekerk, Erin Gallagher and Rebecca Meder.
Gymnastics
Six gymnasts have been selected: Caitlin Rooskrantz, Naveen Daries, Zelme Daries, Buhle Nhleko, Karma Visagie and Daniel Maclean.
Wheelchair Basketball
Eight athletes have been selected in Wheelchair Basketball 3×3: Aviwe Ngoni, Michelle Moganedi, Asive Gilifile, Ongezwa Hagu, Zakhele Shelembe, Shane Williams, Xola Yalezo and Simanga Mbhele will take to the court for South Africa.
Boxing
Four boxers named are Thandolwethu Mathiba, Samukelisiwe Ncube, Simamkele Damesi and Masibulele Sigwela.
Weightlifting
Nine athletes have been selected in Weightlifting includes Johanni Taljaard, Anneke Spies-Burger, Laryne Jefferies, Cheyenne Smith, William Swart, Nicolaas du Plooy, Christoffel Reeder, Jon-Antohein Phillips and Zachary-Paul Snyman will lift for South Africa in Glasgow.
Netball
Twelve players have been selected are Khanyisa Chawane, Kamogelo Maseko, Tarle Mathe, Owethu Ngubane, Refiloe Nketsa, Nicola Smith, Rolene Streutker, Elmere van der Berg, Karla Pretorius, Jamie van Wyk, Karla Victor and Sanmarie Visser.
Bowls
Ten athletes have been selected in Bowls and Para Bowls includes Bridget Calitz, Jacquelyn Janse Van Rensburg, Elinah Muvhango, Wayne Rittmuller, Jason Evans and Paul Anthony will compete in Bowls, with Nozipho Schroeder, Keith Orrell, Gareth Rees-Gibbs and Jarid James.
Judo
Four judoka are Donné Breytenbach, Skye Knoester, Thomas-Laszlo Breytenbach and Timothy Meuwsen.
The team will be aiming to build on its proud history at the Commonwealth Games and challenge for medals across multiple athletics events.
SASCOC congratulated all athletes and team officials selected for the Games, acknowledging the dedication, hard work and sacrifices required to earn national selection.
The athletes will now continue their final preparations ahead of Glasgow 2026, where they will carry South Africa’s hopes on the track and in field against some of the Commonwealth’s top competitors.
