Former South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) CEO Tubby Reddy has died aged 62.
Details remained unclear, though reports suggested he had experienced a short illness.
Reddy was dismissed from the organisation in 2018 following a lengthy case that included charges of corruption and sexual harassment.
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) said in statement that is saddened at the news of the passing of its former CEO, Mr Tubby Reddy.
SASCOC would like to express its sincere condolences to the Reddy family and friends.
Reddy was appointed to the position of SASCOC CEO on 1 February 2009 after serving for a period as its Chief Operating Officer. He remained CEO until 2017.
During his tenure, he had also held the position of Manager (High Performance) at NOCSA between 1997 and 2004, and in 2005 became the General Manager: High Performance at SASCOC.
A qualified volleyball coach and referee, he was an honorary life president of Volleyball South Africa, and he was the chef de mission of the SA team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
He also served as vice-president of the Confederation of African Volleyball and as a board member of the Federation of International Volleyball.
Reddy held a BA degree from Unisa and a Masters in sports management from the University of Lyon.
