Sekhukhune United and Royal AM moved to within a point of GladAfrica Championship leaders Richards Bay FC with wins on Sunday.

The Natal Rich Boys continue to lead the 2020-21 standings with 28 points, but could only conjure a 0-0 draw away to bottom-placed Bizana Pondo Chiefs in one of four second division matches on Saturday.

Sekhukhune and Royal AM beat Free State Stars (1-0) and Pretoria Callies (3-2) respectively on Sunday to close the lead at the top. Royal AM will host Richards Bay in what promises to be a thrilling match next weekend.

Uthongathi FC kicked off the weekend with a 2-0 win at Cape United who continue to fall down the league standings, having started the year in top spot.

Pretoria University’s recent struggles also continued as they lost 1-0 at Polokwane City while Jomo Cosmos are now winless in five matches following a 3-1 loss at home to TS Sporting.

Cape Town All Stars continued their march up the standings with a 2-1 win at JDR Stars. Ronaldo Maarman scored a stunning stoppage-time free-kick to lead Igugu Lekapa to all three points at Giant Stadium.

In an all Western Cape clash, Cape Town Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw by Steenberg United as they remain in 15th spot on the league standings at the halfway mark of the league season.
