The murder accused in the trial of former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa has told the Pretoria High Court how he was forced to sign a confession statement.
During cross-examination, accused number 2 Bongani Ntanzi, told the court how police officers lied about the circumstances of his arrest.
Ntanzi and another accused, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, have alleged they were assaulted and forced to confess to Meyiwa’s murder.
The court adjourned early yesterday after state prosecutor George Baloyi indicated that he had received communication that the records of Ntanzi’s previous appearances would be made available.
Ntanzi on Thursday told the court how the scene where he was forced to sign a confession turned bloody as he was tortured.
He detailed how he signed a pro forma before magistrate Vivian Cronje, which is the introductory part of a statement – under the impression that it would afford him a shower and a phone call to his parents.
He said he was then moved to an industrial area where he was tortured into signing the confession itself until he bled from tight handcuffs.
Ntanzi told the court that the statement that he signed even had his blood stains.
But State prosecutor Ronnie Sibanda pointed out how the statement before the court has no blood stains.
Ntanzi hit back saying police would not bring a bloody statement to court and could have tampered with it.
