Siwelele FC have announced the sacking of their head coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, following a dismal start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The move came less than 24 hours after the team’s 3-2 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.
Seema has failed to register a win in the opening five matches of the league, prompting the club to show him the exit door.
Godfrey Mosoetsa will take charge of the senior side as caretaker coach with immediate effect.
In a statement, the club said, “Following a disappointing start to the 2026/27 season, Siwelele FC has relieved Head Coach Lehlohonolo Seema and Assistant Coach Willem Jackson of their first-team duties.”
Club chairman Calvin le John said, “The decision came as it conducts a review of the team’s performances and technical programme.
“This has been a challenging period for the club, and our supporters deserve better than what they have seen so far this season,” he said.
“Our belief in this team, in our players and in what we are building at Siwelele remains unchanged.”
John said a further announcement regarding the club’s coaching structure for the remainder of the season would be made once the review process has been completed.
Until then, the club indicated it would not provide additional comment on the matter.
Seema was appointed last season following the acquisition of the status previously held by SuperSport United, with his initial mandate to help steer the club clear of relegation.
He has a 10-year coaching career in the PSL with previous stints at Bloemfontein Celtic, Chippa United (twice), Black Leopards, Lamontville Golden Arrows, Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United before taking the Siwelele job at the start of last season.
