Xolani Khumalo, who presents the popular anti-drug show Sizokuthola has handed himself over to the Katlehong North police station, in connection with the suspected drug dealer who died under mysterious circumstances.
Khumalo appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
He was arrested in connection with the murder of a suspected drug dealer who died during interrogation from Khumalo in Katlehong.
“He was released on R20 000 bail, the case has been postponed to 19 October for further investigations,” says Gauteng NPA spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane
In July this year, Khumalo, acting on a tip-off together with Moja Love crew and patrollers, stormed a house in Katlehong looking for the alleged drug dealer where a confrontation took place.
In July, following suspected drug dealer’s death, Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that a case of murder had been opened at Vosloorus police station and transferred to Katlehong North police station, where an investigation was under way.
“No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation’s at an advanced stage,” Masondo said at the time.
This after Khumalo, accompanied by his crew and Gauteng Patrollers, popularly known as amapanyaza, descended on a house in Katlehong apparently acting on a tip-off. They cornered the occupant of the house, and began interrogating him.
Following his death, television channel Moja Love alleged that he had refused to cooperate with the lawful instructions of the recognised members of the community policing forum.
