Eintracht Frankfurt, who are now down to 14th, need to turn things around and make up for their painful loss at RB Leipzig last match when they welcome FC Köln to open Bundesliga Matchday Six on Friday evening.
Frankfurt have conceded 16 goals after five matchdays for the first time ever in the Bundesliga and have only one point from two home games. Köln have lost both away fixtures this term and are winless in 15 on the road in the Bundesliga (third-worst run in their top-flight history).
On Saturday afternoon, it will take a heroic effort for 1. FC Union Berlin to fend back visiting second-placed Borussia Dortmund while other teams battle it out to better their standings.
Dortmund last won their first three away games of a Bundesliga season under Jürgen Klopp in 2010-11. Opponents Berlin haven’t won back to-back home fixtures in the Bundesliga for two years, with a four-game sequence then including a 2-1 victory over BVB.
In the Saturday evening match, Bayern München, after their 2-2 draw against FC Augsburg last matchday and a 3-3 draw against Stavanger in the UEFA Champions League, will face a soaring RB Leipzig, promising a game to remember.
Sunday will see table leaders SC Freiburg travel to fourth-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen for another suspense-packed encounter, and 18th will welcome 17th in the matchday’s final game when Borussia Mönchengladbach, still goalless, host a hitherto disappointing TSG Hoffenheim.
Freiburg have made their best-ever start to a Bundesliga season to go top of the table for the second time in 2026-27, but they have never managed to stay at the summit for more than one matchday. Leverkusen have conceded all eight goals away from home this season, but Patrik Schick has netted in all five fixtures for the first time in the Bundesliga.
Mönchengladbach have scored three goals in each of their home fixtures this season but are pointless after five games for only the second time in their Bundesliga history. Hoffenheim have lost four out of five, including three matches in which they held a lead.
