Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the acquisition of 24-year-old winger Antonio Van Wyk, bringing the talented wide player back to South Africa.

“Yellow Nation, Antonio Van Wyk joins the African Champions ready to write his own chapter in yellow and blue,” the club tweeted.

Van Wyk makes a return having left two seasons ago to join Austrian outfit SV Ried where he gained promotion to the top tier after being signed from Stellenbosch FC.

Van Wyk said, “Spending time away [in Europe] has been an incredible experience that helped me grow as a footballer and as a person,” he told the Sundowns media in his unveiling video.

“This is one of the biggest clubs on the continent. Club with a rich history, high standards and a winning culture.”

“To the supporters, your passion for this club is unmatched and I cannot wait to experience that on match day.”

“I’m excited for this journey. My name is Antonio van Wyk and I’m proud to be Yellow.”

Sundowns saw off Moroccan giants AS FAR 2-1 on aggregate to claim their second star, becoming the only South African club to win the CAF Champions League on two occasions.
