A Mamelodi Sundowns player is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court after he was arrested for assault.
Gauteng police nabbed the 26-year-old on Tuesday.
The unnamed player was arrested after the woman opened a case at the Sebenza Police Station in Edenvale.
“Gauteng police are investigating a case of assault,” said Gauteng police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza.
“The suspect will appear in Kempton Park court today for assaulting his girlfriend at their home.”
Previously, Sundowns midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch was handed a suspended sentence for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
The incident took place in September 2020, whilst Lorch was still an Orlando Pirates player.
Lorch was found guilty in June last year and was handed a three-year direct imprisonment sentence (which was suspended for five years) in November.
