Swallows FC have named Dylan Kerr as the head coach after parting ways with Brandon Truter.

Club chairman David Magashoa announced the appointment of the 64-year-old amid rumours that Gavin Hunt, Gordon Igesund, and Milutin Sredojevic were runners for the job.

Truter, who had promoted the club when they won the GladAfrica Championship in the 2019/2020 season, and his entire technical team were relieved of their duties following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.

As a result of the deflating defeat by Chiefs, Swallows dropped to the bottom of the DStv Premiership on goal difference with only one win to show for their trouble.

Swallows started the season well, promising to do better than last season by first eliminating Orlando Pirates from the MTN8, before beating Royal AM in their league opener.

Truter replaced Zeca Marques in September 2019, with the club in 14th position in the GladAfrica, and had a very good two seasons with the club.

Kerr had stints with Black Leopards, Baroka and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (now Marumo Gallants).

With the mid-season transfer window being a month away,it remains to be seen which players Kerr would rope in to boost their survival chances.

Kerr’s first game in charge of Swallows is expected to be against Maritzburg United on Saturday.
