Swallows return to winning ways while Arrows,Celtic share spoils.

Swallows FC broke a nine-match winless run in the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 win over Black Leopards at Dobsonville Stadium.

Daniel Gozar converted from the penalty spot to move the Dube Birds up to fourth on the league standings while Lidoda Duvha remain in bottom spot, six points from safety.

Both teams showed attacking intent from the onset, but with little end product. That changed in the 31st minute as Kgaogelo Sekgota drifted in field before shooting at goal, but Jonas Mendes was well positioned to make an easy save.

Leopards conjured a chance of their own in the 40th minute but a heavy touch by Rodney Ramagalela allowed Wandisile Letlabika to track back a make a crucial sliding tackle.

Swallows continued to push for the opener and Mendes made an unorthodox save to deny Vuyo Mere from close range just short of the hour mark.

The hosts got their just reward in the 63rd minute. Swallows were rewarded a penalty after Isaac Masia brought down Sekgota inside the area. Gozar stepped up to the spot and made no mistake to give the Soweto club the lead.

Leopards were unable to create any noteworthy chances in the closing stages as Swallows ultimately held on for all three points.

Meanwhile Golden Arrows denied Bloemfontein Celtic a first away win of the 2020-21 DStv Premiership season in a 1-1 draw at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
