For nearly three decades, The Corrs have been weaving together shimmering pop melodies with the soul of traditional Irish folk music. Now, for the very first time, South African fans will get to experience the sibling quartet live, as they bring their Talk on Corners Summer 2025 Tour to Pretoria and Cape Town this November.
The Irish supergroup will perform at SunBet Arena, Time Square, on 22 November, followed by Cape Town’s Grand Arena, GrandWest, on 25 November. Presented by Big Concerts in partnership with Hot 1027, KFM 94.5 and CapeTalk, the shows are expected to be among the most anticipated musical events of the year.
For many, this tour feels long overdue. Since their breakthrough in the mid-1990s, The Corrs have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and carved out a unique space in popular music. Fronted by Andrea Corr’s crystalline vocals, with Sharon on violin, Caroline on drums and Jim on guitar, the group created a signature sound that blended glossy radio-ready pop with the warmth of Celtic tradition.
Their second album, Talk on Corners (1997), proved to be the turning point. It became the highest-selling album of the year in the UK and produced enduring hits such as So Young and What Can I Do. The follow-up, In Blue (2000), sent them stratospheric, topping charts in 17 countries and giving the world Breathless, a song that remains a radio staple to this day.
Along the way, the band collected Grammy nominations, a BRIT Award and even honorary MBEs for their musical achievements and charitable work. They performed at global charity events including The Prince’s Trust concert and Live 8, cementing their reputation as both chart stars and humanitarian voices.
Yet, like many family bands, their journey hasn’t been without pause. A decade-long hiatus saw Jim and Caroline focus on family life, while Andrea and Sharon pursued solo careers. Their reunion in 2015 was uncertain at first, but soon flourished into new music with the albums White Light and Jupiter Calling, followed by triumphant returns to major stages across Europe, Asia and Australia.
Now, with their Talk on Corners celebration tour filling arenas across the UK and Europe, the Corrs are setting their sights on South Africa. Speaking about this new chapter, Andrea reflected: “To be able to honour Talk on Corners with a tour all these years later has been truly amazing. We have to say a huge thank you to all our fans for embracing this.” Sharon added: “After spending years touring solo, it’s a total thrill to be back on stage with my family.”
For South African fans who have waited decades to see them live, the concerts promise a night that spans the nostalgia of the nineties with the energy of a band still pushing forward. With a new album also on the horizon, this debut appearance feels like the start of a deeper connection with local audiences.
