Football fans around the globe can begin planning their journey to the biggest sporting event on Earth, as FIFA has announced that ticket applications for the FIFA World Cup 2026 will open on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.
The tournament, set to be the largest in the competition’s history, will feature 48 national teams playing 104 matches across 16 cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The opening match will take place at Mexico City’s iconic Azteca Stadium on 11 June 2026, with the final scheduled for 19 July at MetLife Stadium in New York New Jersey.
Tickets will be released in phases due to expected high demand. Fans are urged to visit FIFA.com/tickets now to register their interest and create a FIFA ID. This ensures early access to ticketing updates and the ability to apply when the first draw window opens in September.
“Following the incredible success of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, excitement is reaching new heights for the FIFA World Cup 26,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “We’re looking forward to welcoming the world back to North America. These will be the most coveted seats in world sport.”
The 2026 edition marks a series of firsts. It will be the first World Cup hosted by three countries, the first to feature 48 teams, and Canada’s debut as a host nation. The expanded format is expected to attract a record 6.5 million fans across North America.
Hospitality packages, including premium seats and exclusive experiences, are already available at FIFA.com/hospitality. ‘Follow My Team’ options allow supporters to secure tickets for their chosen nation’s group and knockout stage matches, subject to qualification.
Full details of each sales phase, including ticket types, pricing and purchasing procedures, will be announced in the months ahead. FIFA has not yet confirmed whether dynamic pricing, used at the recent Club World Cup, will apply.
The final tournament draw is slated for December 2025, at which point fixtures, venues and kick-off times will be finalised. With Argentina set to defend its title and new entrants such as Jordan and Uzbekistan preparing for their World Cup debut, FIFA World Cup 26 promises a historic spectacle for fans worldwide.
