Two people have died after the Cruiser Homebuilt Fixed-wing aircraft they were flying crashed at Springs Airfield in Ekurhuleni.
According to the spokesperson for the SA Civil Aviation Authority, Sisa Majola, the aircraft was departing the airfield, and was intending to return to the same airstrip.
The aircraft was destroyed on impact.
Majola said its Accident and Incident Investigations Division (AIID) was on site to collect evidence to define the size and scope of the investigation.

A preliminary report would be issued 30 days from the day of the accident.
