SA Police Services (SAPS) has arrested eight people in connection with a robbery at a storage facility in Bedfordview, East of Johannesburg on Sunday, 26 April 2026.
Among those arrested are two members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), stationed in Florida.
The arrests were made during a coordinated operation by the Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT), assisted by Gauteng Traffic Police and private security.
Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said they received information about a group of men who were loading and stealing stock from a storage facility in Bedfordview.
“The suspects fled the scene in a Toyota one-ton truck and two Volkswagen Polo vehicles. A coordinated police response, supported by Air Wing, led to the interception of the suspects in the Zandspruit area, Honeydew,” said Sibeko.
The eight suspects will face charges of business robbery and possession of stolen property.
Sibeko said police investigations are continuing.
SAPS management has strongly condemned the alleged involvement of police members in criminal activity, warning that such conduct seriously undermines the integrity of the organisation and damages already fragile public confidence in law enforcement.
