FC Union Berlin and FC Schalke 04 are both seeking their first win of the season. The Köpenick club have the division’s most porous defence with seven goals conceded, while the Royal Blues are one of three teams yet to score.
This will be only the eighth meeting between these two sides, and their first meeting since February 2023. Of those seven fixtures played, the two teams are evenly matched, with four of those matches ending in a draw, including all three that have taken place in Berlin.
The last win between these two sides was in August 2022 where Union went home with all three points in a 6-1 thumping – but Schalke will think they have bragging rights going into this match, including a win over this week’s opponents in the 2001 DFB-Pokal final.
TSG Hoffenheim have scored first in both games this season but are pointless at this stage for the first time in 11 years. VfB Stuttgart are unbeaten in five games against Hoffenheim (W1, D4) but have only one win in their last eight Bundesliga away fixtures all told.
SC Freiburg have won all five competitive fixtures in 2026-27 and could now win their first three Bundesliga games of a season for the first time ever. Borus sia Mönchengladbach have zero points after two games for the first time since 2015-16 and haven’t won in Freiburg in their last 18 visits (D6, L12).
Serhou Guirassy has scored in both of Borussia Dortmund’s games and had a hand in three of their five goals as BVB earned six points for the first time since 2022-23. SC Paderborn have never beaten Dortmund before but do have two draws in four Bundesliga meetings.
FC Augsburg lead the Bundesliga standings for the first time in their history af ter 512 matchdays at this level. Bayer 04 Leverkusen haven’t won away at a Bundesliga leader since October 2012 (2-1 in Munich).
FSV Mainz 05 equalled their biggest Bundesliga victory last time out at Ham burger SV (5-0) and are now unbeaten in seven on the road, but haven’t won at home in four league games (D1, L3). Eintracht Frankfurt have squandered leads in both matches so far this season and are winless in seven Bundesliga fixtures.
FC Köln welcome their favourite visitors in SV Werder Bremen. The Billy Goats’ record of 30 wins, 110 goals scored and 22 clean sheets at home to Werder is their best against any opponent in the Bundesliga.
Hamburger SV have made their worst-ever start to a Bundesliga season with zero points and -7 goal difference, and now visit RB Leipzig, who have had the most shots in the division (42) and have the highest xG (6.2), although Christo pher Nkunku is yet to score on his return after six attempts on goal.
SV Elversberg are the ninth team in Bundesliga history to win their first two games at this level, but only three have won the first three. The newcomers have the division’s best attack (seven goals, same as Augsburg) and sit ahead of FC Bayern München in the table ahead of their first-ever competitive meeting. Bayern have beaten all 56 other teams they have faced in the Bundesliga but did lose their first encounter with eight of them.
