False incrimination, fabrication of evidence, scapegoating and conspiracy. These are the claims made by four of the men charged with murdering Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa. Their claims form part of their defence, as revealed by their lawyer, advocate Malesela Teffo.
Teffo has spent more than three days cross-examining Sergeant Thabo Mosia, the State’s first witness.
Five men have been charged with killing Meyiwa at the home of his girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus, Boksburg, in Gauteng on 26 October 2014.
Muzikawukhulelwa S’Tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Ntuli appeared in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday for the continuation of their trial.
Teffo claimed that Meyiwa had already been dead when he was rushed to hospital after the shooting.
