Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema suspended three Constitutional Court judges with immediate effect, his office announced Monday.
The suspended judges are Justice Anne Sitali, Justice Mungeni Mulenga, and Justice Palan Mulonda.
All three were appointed by his predecessor Edgar Lungu.
In a statement issued on Monday evening, “The President acted based on recommendations from the Judicial Complaints Commission.”
“The suspension of the three is in exercise of the powers vested in the President under Article 144 (3) of the Constitution of Zambia.”
