Afrotainment Record Label has confirmed that Mandla Maphumulo, known as Mampintsha from Big Nuz suffered minor stroke a week ago after He was admitted at King Edward Hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
The 40-year-old musician was admitted to the hospital over the weekend and was later taken to Durdoc Hospital in Durban Central.
Mampintsha who is married to Gqom sensation Babes Wodumo, has been unwell from 17 December according to the record label.
The controversial celebrity couple has had an on-off relationship since video footage emerged of Mampintsha assaulting Babes. Both laid charges of assault against each other and Mampintsha later issued a public apology to the singer.
The pair tied the knot a year ago and their wedding was screened in a Showmax special, in addition to the reality TV show Uthando Lodumo.
For their second season of their reality show, the couple went through marriage counselling and therapy to help strengthen their union and allowed viewers to see that process.
“We are now going to counselling to make sure that things are good between us as a couple, so this time is different. People will see that we are seeking help and that we are more mature. We are able to work well together without the noise.
Fans have been sending prayers and messages of healing to the Kwaito star.
The family has asked for privacy during this difficult times.
Another celeb who suffered a stroke that affected her speech and ability to communicate is Lerato ‘Lira’ Molapo. However, she is making great progress in her recovery. Taking to her Instagram account in September, the Feel So Good hitmaker shared a health update and said she was feeling better.
“Can you believe it’s been 6 months – how time flies. The second and third frame is where I used to be at! I am feeling like myself yet I’m still on my recovery journey. It’s going to take some time- but it’s reversible!
