A boy, 9, has died and his mother is in a critical condition after two men shot at their vehicle in Midrand on Tuesday afternoon.
Midrand Police Station’s Colonel Andre de Klerk, confirmed the incident and said that the were three occupants in the car, two of which were young children, when the shooting occurred in Midrand.
De Klerk said the incident happened just before 15:00.
‘We have found about five bullets [at the scene]. The mother is in her late 30s. That’s all that [the information we] have at the moment.”
“The two suspects then jumped into a car that was parked nearby and sped off.”
While the girl escaped unharmed, mother and son were rushed to a medical care centre. The son later succumbed to injuries.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage and no arrests have yet been made.
