Guinness World Records, the global authority of record-breaking achievements will launch the brand new Guinness World Records 2023 (GWR2023) edition on 15 September 2022.
The 2023 edition takes readers on a journey that’s out of this world, revealing the latest and greatest record-breaking achievements here on Planet Earth and across the vast distances of space.
As lockdown restrictions ease, humanity’s horizons are expanding once again, and our world is experiencing unprecedented change – in the environment, culture, technology and society.
Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief, Guinness World Records says: “We’ve sifted through nearly 40,000 record applications over the past year to bring you Guinness World Records 2023. People from all walks of life continue to be fascinated by extremes, and we’ve received claims from across the planet – indeed, even from space! This is why I’ve said the new edition is ‘Out of this World!’, as one of the big themes for this year is space. We’ve truly entered a new era in space travel, which has heralded a new space race: who’ll be the youngest, the oldest, the most travelled? But record-breaking isn’t just the preserve of billionaires – literally anyone on the planet can qualify, and this year more than ever we’ve made record breaking accessible to all. We’ve introduced new categories that have been ring-fenced just for kids, and we’re proud to have launched classification categories for physical, intellectual and visual impairments. It’s important to us that everyone has the same opportunities when it comes to world records, whether you’re solving jigsaw puzzles at high speed, growing giant aubergines, creating your own content on Tik Tok or even rocketing off to space!
With ever more focus on diversity and inclusion, we showcase the most inspirational, eye-catching, mind-blowing achievements from the past year, across a multitude of topics such as gaming and the human body, engineering and wildlife.”
