Mzansi Magic drama Grootboom & Sons returns to TV screens for a second season, with several new cast members.

The second season returns six months after its first season ended.

New characters who liven up the funeral home are Luthando (played by Thami Mnqolo) as MK’s fresh from prison and long-lost son; Didi (played by Keke Mphuthi), the mother of his child; Zinhle Mabena; Mapaseka Koetle; Liopelo Maphathe; Nkosana ‘Bozza’ Nkosi and Gabriel Mini. Thembekile Komani steps into the role of Mbulelo, replacing Bongile Mantsai.

“The first season of Grootboom & Sons was a resounding success, appealing to audiences with its rich characters and riveting storylines,” M-Net local entertainment channels director Shirley Adonisi said in a press statement. “We’re happy to announce that the show is back by popular demand, especially led by our DStv Compact subscribers, who have resonated with this show the most.”

While several new characters have joined the show, viewers still look forward to the familiar faces of Zandile Msutwana (as Funeka); Mbasa Msongelo (as Zola); Luzuko Nkgeto (as MK); Neo Mekgwe (as Kefilwe); Nommangaliso Tebeka (as Imani) and Sibulele Gcilitshana (as Vuyo) when it returns.
